Have you heard the word Reiki, but always wondered what it was? Reiki is LOVE. Reiki can be translated to "the mysterious and sacred energy of the universe". It is healing energy, or "bioenergy". It is a Japanese for of energy healing that involves the laying on of hands to heal. It induces stress reduction and the relaxation response. Reiki is NOT a RELIGION, and you do not have to believe in it for it to work. Reiki is intelligent and it will go where it is needed, or engineer what's needed to heal.
Reiki was founded in 1922 on Mt. Kurama by a spiritual seeker named Mikao Usui. After 21 days of fasting and prayer, he founded Reiki, as a spiritual practice and a way to reach ultimate enlightenment. Usui trained Chujiro Hayashi, a retired medical naval officer who created specific hand positions for Reiki treatments. Hayashi trained Hawayo Takata, an American of Japanese descent, the first non-Japanese to learn Reiki. As WWII began and Japan was destroyed, Takata began teaching Reiki in the US. The history and practice of Reiki became more fluid over time and there are now many ideas about the 'true' history of Reiki.
